Intuitive Business: Following Your Inner Guidance System to Success
Ever had that gut feeling you just couldn’t shake? You know, the one that nudges you in a certain direction, even when the logical path says otherwise? That’s your intuition—your business’s secret weapon.
Over the years, I’ve honed my ability to listen to this inner voice, and it has never steered me wrong. Sure, at the time, it might feel like a leap into the unknown, but looking back, I can see how these intuitive decisions led me to something beautiful and new every single time.
The Power of Intuition in Business
Intuition is like that quiet friend who always seems to know what’s best, even when you don’t. It’s the magical, gut-feeling, inner-knowing that we all have but don’t always trust. When we’re knee-deep in the systems, structures, and constant ‘doing’ of our business, it’s easy to forget that our best decisions often come from within.
I truly believe that our destiny is already set out for us, and it’s up to us to listen to the guidance we’re given to find our true path. This belief is why I’m so passionate about sharing how intuition has shaped my journey.
Listening to Your Gut: Real-Life Examples
Let me share a couple of stories where following my gut made all the difference.
The Difficult Client
I once had a potential client reach out to me about designing and styling their holiday home on the south coast. Gorgeous property, tons of potential—but something felt off. After a couple of calls, it became clear that this person didn’t fully value my services. They wanted to pick my brain for free advice and kept trying to change the package to fit their budget.
My gut told me this would be a difficult project and even more challenging to get paid. So, I made the tough call to say no. It wasn’t easy, but I knew it was the right decision. Sometimes, you’ve just got to trust that inner voice that says, “This isn’t worth it.”
The Big Investment
Another time, I was on the fence about investing $2,000 in my first big online course. It was a lot of money for me at the time, but something about it felt right. I was excited, my gut was all in, but doubt and fear started to creep in. Was this the right move?
I knew that if I didn’t take this leap, I’d stay stuck. So, I hit the “buy now” button. That course transformed my business, and now, years later, I’m teaching the same principles to others. That $2,000 has come back to me tenfold.
How to Tune into Your Intuition
Curious about how to start listening to your intuition in your business? Here are some tips that have helped me over the years:
Tip 1: Create Space for Stillness
Intuition thrives in stillness. It’s like a quiet whisper that gets drowned out by all the noise. Make it a habit to carve out some quiet time each day. Whether it’s a morning meditation, a walk in nature, or just a few minutes of deep breathing—find a way to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with yourself. You’ll be amazed at how much clearer your intuition becomes when you give it the space to speak up.
Tip 2: Pay Attention to Your Body
Your body is always sending you signals; you just need to learn how to listen to them. Next time you’re faced with a decision, check in with your body. Do you feel light and energized, or heavy and tense? Your body often knows the answer before your mind does. Trust those feelings.
Tip 3: Embrace the Unexpected
Intuition doesn’t always follow the logical path. Sometimes, your gut will guide you toward something that doesn’t make sense on paper but feels right. Be open to the unexpected, explore it, and see where it leads. You might find yourself on a detour that ends up being exactly what your business needs.
Tip 4: Practice Self-Compassion
Not every intuitive decision will lead to immediate success, and that’s okay. Every decision, every lesson, is part of your journey. The more you use your intuition, the stronger it gets. Over time, those intuitive nudges will become easier to recognize and trust.
A Final Story
Recently, I felt a strong pull to work with a mentor who was way outside my budget. Her fees were $55k for six months, and there was no way I could swing that. But I knew in my gut I was meant to work with her.
Just a few days later, she opened up a new group program at a price point I could afford—$5k. It was a 100% hell-yes moment for me, and I’m still working with her now. The experience has been transformative, and I know with her guidance, I’ll reach my big audacious goals.
Trusting Your Inner Voice
Tuning into your intuition is like strengthening a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. So, the next time you’re faced with a decision, take a moment to listen to that inner voice. It just might lead you to something beautiful and new.
