Authority to Income: Master your Marketing for Consistent Clients

If you want to grow your authority and build a business that generates consistent income, it’s time to get serious about your marketing and messaging. Yes, I know we hear this all the time, but today, I’m going to make it easy for you. I want to change the way you think about your content and help you see it from your potential clients’ perspective.

Think Like Your Client

Your Instagram followers might love your style, but that alone won’t convert them into paying clients. To make this shift, put yourself in their shoes and see your feed through their eyes. They aren’t just looking for beautiful images; they’re searching for solutions. They want someone they can trust—someone who consistently provides valuable tips and guidance for creating beautiful spaces themselves.

Position Yourself as the Expert

When I was growing my interiors business, I prioritized social media marketing, even when I had a lot of work coming through referrals. I made it a point to post almost every other day, engage with others, and connect with my followers.

What set me apart was how I approached content. Every time I shared a styled space, I provided guidance on how it was created. I’d share styling tips, budgeting advice, or insights on mixing high-end and affordable items. Or I’d explain how I curated a space, like starting with a piece of artwork and building the design around it.

This approach gave my followers something to learn, keeping me top of mind and positioning me as an authority. So, when they were ready to hire a designer or stylist, I was the first person they thought of.

Show, Don’t Just Tell

Don’t just post a pretty picture and say, “Beautiful laundry design!” Instead, explain how you created that space and made your client’s life easier. For example:

  • How you simplified their choices from thousands of options to a perfect selection.

  • The functionality of the layout and why you chose specific elements.

  • How you helped clients save money with trade discounts while selecting high-quality products.

And then, add a call to action like, “I have two spots available for an Hour of Power this month to help you navigate your interiors.”

Create Content That Educates and Engages

If you don’t have clients yet, share a weekly mood board or concept. When you post it, dive into your process:

  • Who is it for?

  • What software do you use?

  • Why is it important to have a mood board?

  • Where do you find your images?

  • How do you avoid overwhelm while gathering inspiration?

Be Intentional with Your Content

Can you see the difference? Being intentional in your content positions you as someone who knows what they’re doing and can help create beautiful spaces. Not everyone who follows you will become a 1:1 client or buy from you immediately, but by providing value and inspiration, you’ll build trust with your audience.

When you build that trust and decide to offer a digital course with all your guidance and tips, your audience will be ready to buy. Plus, many will feel confident enough in your expertise to hire you for 1:1 consulting.

Final Thoughts: Turn Authority into Income

Your social media is more than just a portfolio; it's a platform to build authority and trust. By being intentional and strategic with your content, you can attract your ideal clients, establish yourself as the go-to expert, and start earning consistent income.
