Why Authenticity is Your Secret Weapon in the Interiors Industry
Authenticity. It’s one of those buzzwords we hear everywhere these days, especially in the online world and the interiors industry. But here’s the thing—it’s not just a trendy term. Authenticity is the magic ingredient that sets you apart from the sea of other stylists and designers.
Think about it: We all offer similar services. At the core, we're helping clients create beautiful, functional spaces. So, what makes someone choose you over another designer? It’s your unique style, your process, your personality, and your brand voice.
That’s why I’m always shouting from the rooftops about the importance of showing up online. Showing your face on your feed and in your stories—whether you're styling, on-site, behind the scenes, or just chatting with your audience—helps your followers get to know you. It’s how they see who you are, how you communicate, and what your vibe is like.
If you’re not showing up, what makes you stand out? What sets you apart from every other interior stylist in the online space? And here’s the kicker—authenticity is what’s going to close sales, not just a perfectly curated feed.
Authenticity Builds Trust
When you show up as your true self—sharing your values, personality, and unique design style—you build trust with your audience. And trust is what turns followers into clients.
When I transitioned from interior stylist to mentoring other stylists, my audience was mostly homeowners looking for styling tips. They weren’t my dream clients, and I knew I needed to shift.
I tried all the strategies: reels, carousels, and content plans. And they worked—I started attracting designers, stylists, and aspiring stylists. But something was missing.
Conversion was slow.
So, I went back to basics. I asked myself: What attracted my dream clients before? The answer? Connection.
I realized I wasn’t showing up enough on camera. Sure, I had photos of myself, but there was no real connection. So, I started talking to the camera more—sharing tips, behind-the-scenes moments, and what was happening in my business.
The result? More DMs. More conversations. More connections. And more women joining my mentoring and courses.
Why Showing Up Works
When I tell you to show up in your feed and stories, it’s because it works.
In a saturated market like interiors, your authenticity is your superpower. No one else has your unique perspective, your process, or your story. Sharing your journey, your “why,” and your behind-the-scenes moments differentiates you and positions you as a standout stylist.
People connect with people, not just perfectly styled rooms. When you share your challenges, wins, and day-to-day life (even if it’s not what you ate for breakfast), your audience connects with you on a deeper level.
Attracting Aligned Clients
The best part? Authenticity attracts the right clients—those who share your values and passions.
For example, I talk openly about my spirituality and intuition in business. And guess what? I attract women who value those things, too. They resonate with me on a deeper level because we align beyond just business.
One client even told me… [Insert specific client story or testimonial here].
The Freedom of Being Yourself
When you show up authentically, there’s no facade. No pressure to be someone you’re not. And that’s where the magic happens.
You’ll feel more at ease creating content, showing up consistently, and building genuine connections. And with each authentic interaction, your confidence will grow, leading to more engagement and, ultimately, more clients.
So, if you’ve been holding back, this is your sign. Show up. Be yourself. Share your story.
Because in a world of perfectly styled grids, you are the thing that will set you apart.
And trust me—your dream clients are waiting to connect with the real you. 💫
