Is your business sucking the life out of you?
This topic has been on my heart lately, especially after the first week inside Soul Led Stylist. I have the most incredible women in this container—stylists and designers, each with their own unique path. But one thing unites us all: the desire for an easier, more aligned way of doing business. They believe, like I do, that there is a true path meant just for them, and they’re ready to find it.
The Key Ingredient: How Do You Feel?
Too many women are on the road to burnout, juggling motherhood, business, and life, trying to keep all the plates spinning. I’ve been there too. You’re in the thick of a demanding season—perhaps motherhood—and you’re also driven by a deep passion for interiors. So, you go all in because you know this work lights you up. But then… you create a business that’s bigger and busier than you can handle.
We don’t honor our season. Instead, we build businesses based on what we think we should do to succeed. And before we know it, we’ve created a monster that drains us instead of fueling us.
Designing a Business That Works for You
From the very beginning, you need to be honest about what you can handle. Ask yourself:
What days do I actually have free?
How many hours a week can I realistically work?
Can I work on weekends without feeling like I’ve lost my personal time?
This doesn’t mean you can’t follow your dreams—it just means your business needs to align with your season of life. You may want to do all the things because your passion is on fire, but sometimes, the best answer is: Not right now.
I’ve worked with so many women in business—mothers who are bursting with ideas and ambition. But when they take a step back and get clear on their values, they realize that in this moment, they want to be a present, healthy, and fulfilled mama and a successful business owner.
So, instead of saying no to your big ideas, say not yet. Put them on the shelf for six months or a year. They’ll still be there when the time is right.
What’s Draining You vs. What Lights You Up?
To create a business that fuels you rather than drains you, reflect on these questions:
How do you feel about your current business model?
Are there services you dread offering?
What is your income goal?
How much time do you have to dedicate to work?
What truly lights you up?
How can you create a service that aligns with your passion and season of life?
Real-Life Example: A Soul-Led Shift
One of my members in Soul Led Stylist is an interior designer who specializes in CAD drawings and renders for builders and homeowners. But she was feeling drained, uninspired, and completely overbooked.
During our first week, I encouraged her to turn inward and get clear on what she actually wanted—not what she thought she should do. She had a lightbulb moment and messaged the group: I think I’ve found my niche! Her excitement was palpable.
She realized that the long timelines and client interactions were exhausting her. Through my niche visualization exercise and other steps in my formula, she uncovered a new passion—one that allows her to be creative, supports her lifestyle, and energizes her rather than depleting her.
Now, she’s reimagining her business. Maybe she’ll pivot to virtual services, focus on concept creation, or take on just one high-end client at a time. She even has an idea for an online course—an asset that will serve her in any season of life.
It’s Your Turn
If you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself: How can I tweak my niche or services so that I feel energized instead of drained? The answer is always there.
The sweet spot lies in blending strategy with soul—aligning what you do with what you love. And when you do that, your business becomes something that fuels you instead of something you have to recover from.
Ready for More?
If this resonates with you, I have only two mentoring spots available to start in March with my next availability in August. Let’s create a business that works for you—not against you. 💫
